The port of Hamburg is the biggest German container port and the third biggest in Europe. It therefore goes without saying that O’Swaldkai is well equipped for the standardized transport system.

Our terminal has all modern handling equipment for containers and serves all means of transport, from trucks and trains to ocean-going and inland vessels. ConRo ships are handled at the quays; in addition to wheeled cargo, these ships also discharge and load containers.

One of the main activities at O’Swaldkai is to stow vehicles and forest products in containers (wood pulp, newsprint and decorative paper). There is capacity for reefer containers and there are separate slots for dangerous goods containers.

Container logistics are also impressive from the ecological aspect. Nowadays most stuffed containers are transported to the connecting terminals by inland vessel/barge, an eco-friendly means of transport.

A high-quality vehicle, carefully packed and lashed on a wooden pallet, is inside a sea container. This example shows the safe loading of vehicles in containers - an alternative to RoRo handling for particularly sensitive goods.

A large container ship from the Maersk shipping company is handled at the terminal using the container gantry cranes. Container handling is a central element of the intermodal logistics chain at Unikai.

Carefully stacked containers from the ACL shipping company on the ConRo terminal site - ready for loading or interim storage. Stacking takes place efficiently on marked storage areas, supported by digital yard logistics.

Three empty trailers from the Grimaldi Group are ready and waiting. Oversized or bulky unit loads such as machines or vehicle parts are transported safely on them.
