Certified quality management

In July 2011 UNIKAI Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft mbH, Hamburg, was officially certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 by Germanischer Lloyd.
For the first time, a company based in the port of Hamburg has been granted this certificate for its entire range of services as a multi-functional terminal.
All operations in connection with the handling of vehicles, containers, heavy goods and break-bulk cargo, their positioning and storage as well as all forwarding services are subject to a continuous improvement process.
What was the motivation for implementing a quality management system?
To cut a long story short: we realized that a quality campaign involving continuous improvement of our services is a paramount aspect of our corporate policy.
The continuously increasing quality demands made by our customers in the car and capital goods industry require that their business partners focus their thinking on quality.
We are meeting this challenge by making customer satisfaction the basis of our actions.
Moreover, the quality management system as an operational tool ensures a high level of transparency due to its understandable procedures and the desired positive effects on processes for customers and employees.
Management checks at regular intervals to see whether the goals have been achieved. Quality has therefore been declared a management task and is guided by the following principles:
  • Consistent customer and market orientation
  • Error prevention and profitability
  • Personnel development
  • Continuous improvement
Our commitment to continuously look for ways to achieve optimization leads to a critical assessment of our actions in the day-to-day business. The continuous review of levels of reliability, punctuality and flexibility is a core element of our quality requirements and is aimed at securing our success in the long term.
